KOCHI: A serious allegation has been levelled against women’s commission member Shahida Kamal for misleading the government and the election commission. It has been alleged that she misled the government forging her educational qualifications. The vigilance obtained a complaint asserting that she is unfit to continue in her post.
She had registered her educational qualification as B.Com in the affidavit given to contest elections held in 2009 and 2011 and to become a member of women’s commission. She had mentioned that she graduated from St John’s College in Anchal during 1987-90. However, documents from Kerala University obtained under the Right to Information Act show that Shahida has not passed the degree.
Meantime, Shahida said she has not cheated the government and the election commission. Shahida argued that she had informed election commission that she had completed B.Com. The commission’s response was that if she had not passed the exam, she should have written exactly that she is continuing the course.
