KOCHI: Steps have been taken to raze the flats in Maradu built in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone norms following the order of the Supreme Court. Two flats have been handed over for demolition so far. The workers performed pooja before razing Alpha Ventures. Vijaya Steel has taken the contract for demolishing it.
Meantime, companies have asked government an amount of Rs 2.5 crore to demolish all the four flats in Maradu. Of this, highest amount of Rs 86 lakh has been asked to demolish Jain Flat. The order issued has asked the builders to meet the full expenses of the compensation committee. The total cost is Rs 2, 32, 81,720. Edifice Engineering will demolish Jain flat for Rs 86,76,720. Only Rs 21,02,760 is required to demolish Golden Kayaloram.
The expense to raze H2O Holy Faith is Rs 64,02,240. Vijay Steels asked Rs 61 lakh to demolish the twin buildings of Alfa Serene. Sub collector will present these accounts at the municipality council to be convened today. The government had assured not to take a single rupee from the municipality’s project allotment. Meantime, the government appointed 14 additional staffs for the compensation committee led by Justice Balakrishnan Nair, to oversee the disbursement of compensation for the apartment owners.
