THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Latest reports suggest that low pressure is developing in the Arabian sea which may lead to the strengthening of the northeast monsoon in the state. Following this, the meteorological department has issued yellow alerts for all the districts on Saturday.
As per the report, the state will receive strong rain for the next two days. The department also issued a warning to the fisherfolk in Northern Kerala, Lakshadweep, Karnataka coast as there is a high possibility of strong winds that may blow up to a speed of 55 kmph.
Meanwhile, a landslide has been reported at Thodumala near Amboori in Thiruvananthapuram. Though no casualties have been reported, farmers have suffered widespread destruction of crops. Heavy rain has also been reported in the hilly regions of Kozhikode district. A bridge in Pothundi near Thusharagiri has been washed away in a landslide.
The State Disaster Management Authority too has issued a warning regarding widespread lightning between 2 pm in the afternoon to 10 in the night.
