THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the ongoing rain is strengthening in Ernakulam constituency, Kerala's Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena on Monday said that discussions are being held to extend the time for polling in the constituency. While denying chances of postponing the election, he added he has asked the collectors to submit detailed reports about the situations in the five constituencies.
Meena has also announced the polling rates in the five constituencies till 10.30 am. While Manjeshwaram and Aroor registered the highest polling rates of 20.26% and 20.03% respectively, Konni registered 19.54%. The voting rate in Vattiyoorkavu is 17.42%. It is Ernakulam district that has registered the lowest rate of 8.38% due to the heavy rains. The latest report suggests that officials have made certain changes regarding the polling booths affected by rain and waterlogging.
