THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As by-election polling reaches its final phase, three out of five constituencies registered good voters turn out. Manjewswaram, Konni and Aroor recorded good polling percentage. At Konni, where there is a strong three-way competition, the latest polling percentage is 65.01. The polling percentage is 69.10 in Aroor and 68.05 percentage in Manjeswaram. Meanwhile, Vattiyoorkkavu and Ernakulam saw relatively lesser voter turnout at 58 and 52.03 percentages respectively.
It is assumed that rain has played a crucial factor in bringing down the polling percentage. As rain began to get weak, people started to turn up at polling centres. The political fronts have demanded re-polling at constituencies with lesser polling percentage. UDF have also demanded to extend the voting time further in Ernakulam.
