THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Teeka Ram Meena on Tuesday confirmed there was an attempt to cast bogus vote booth 42 in Manjeswaram constituency. However, re-polling will not be held in any of the five constituencies.
A woman identified as Nabeesa had tried to cast a bogus vote and she was arrested by police. A case has been registered against the woman for impersonation. Nabeesa, who didn’t have vote in the 42nd booth, posed as another person to cast vote. After marriage, she left the place and her name was removed from the voter’s list.
Nabeesa also didn’t carry a voter slip with her. She was stopped by agents on entering the booth. The presiding officer found out that she was not the real Nabeesa. She was then taken to custody on presiding officer’s complaint. Congress MP Rajmohan Unnithan and Nabeesa’s relative had earlier said that Nabeesa didn’t try to cast a bogus vote.
