KOCHI: The Kerala government has sanctioned the compensation for Maradu flat owners. The government, on Tuesday, sanctioned Rs 69800000 to 38 flat owners. The amount will be credited to the bank accounts of the flat owners soon.

The money will be sanctioned for rest of the owners as and when their bank account details and other relevant documents are submitted to the department concerned.

Justice K Balakrishnan Nair Committee had recommended compensation for 141 persons. Meanwhile, the probe into Maradau flat case has extended to political leaders.

The Crime Branch has sent notice to all 21 members who were in the former Panchayat administrative committee of Maradu. Starting Wednesday, two each from the 21 members have been asked to report at the Crime branch office for questioning in every consecutive day. They will be made the witness in the case.

There are allegations that despite clarifying rule violations, members including Panchayat president K A Devassy intervened and conspired with officers to give illegal sanction for building the flats.

The Crime Branch during its investigation found out that many documents regarding the sanctions given to illegal construction had gone missing from the panchayat office.
