KOCHI: KPCC President Mullappally Ramachandran on Friday said that Kochi mayor Soumini Jain will not be removed from her position following the party's reduced majority in the constituency. While defending Soumini, he added that the whole party is collectively responsible for the low majority in Ernakulam by-election.
"It is not fair to say that Soumini alone is responsible for the lower majority. Win or lose, it is the collective responsibility of the party. We haven't even considered removing Soumini from her position," he said.
Earlier, several I-group members including Hibi Eden MP had demanded to remove Soumini while blaming her for the low majority in Ernakulam. They had also pointed out that it was the Kochi corporation's poor governance that led to a lower majority. Following this, Soumini had approached Mullappally for a solution.
