THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister AK Balan on Sunday said that a reinvestigation regarding the Walayar rape case will be initiated only after obtaining proper evidence. He added that further actions would be taken after receiving the report of the DIG. While stating that the DIG would probe the lapse in the police investigation, he also added that the Prosecution Director-General will conduct a probe regarding the lapse in handling the case.
Meanwhile, the public prosecutor in the Walayar case has lashed out against the special prosecutor Latha Jayaraj. According to the public prosecutor, there is no point in blaming the defendant lawyer as it was the silence observed by the special prosecutor that helped the accused to get acquited.
Earlier in the day, CPM Puthusery Area Secretary Subhash Chandrabose denied the party's involvement in the case and said that the accused do not have any connection with the party.
