THRISSUR: In her recorded statement, actress Manju Warrier told the police that director Shrikumar Menon tried to defame her through social media. The statement was recorded in Thrissur Police Centre on Manju’s petition against Shrikumar Menon. Manju’s statement claims that Shrikumar’s activities were meant to insult the modesty of a woman.

A case was registered against Shrikumar Menon on Manju Warrier’s petition under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code (word, gesture or act intending to insult the modesty of any woman) and Section 354 D (assault on a woman knowing that it would outrage her modesty). Thrissur district Crime Branch DySP is assigned with the investigation of the case.

There are indications that Shrikumar Menon could be summoned for questioning in the coming days.

Manju Warrier had said that she acted in several endorsements as part of a contract with Shrikumar Menon’s ‘Push’ company. After revoking the contract in 2017, Shrikumar acted on hate against her and did activities that harm her character in the society, Manju alleged.
