THIRUVANANTAHPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told the assembly that either a CBI probe or a re-investigation can be conducted on the incident where dalit girls were sexually abused and later found dead under mysterious circumstances in Walayar. Will examine which of these is needed and a humanitarian action will be taken, he said while replying to the notice of the adjournment motion moved by the opposition.

The chief minister informed the assembly the allegation that the case was sabotaged is not right. The government will move the court against the acquittal of the accused. A noted advocate will be entrusted to argue the case and will examine if there are any flaws on the side of the police.

Meantime, the opposition trooped to the well of the house shouting slogans demanding announcement of a CBI probe. The speaker soon informed the adjournment of the house.

Shafi Parambil MLA blamed the ruling front for the acquittal of the accused. He said the victims’ mother had herself asserted that the CPM has a role in their acquittal.
