MALAPPURAM: Palakkad MP V K Sreekandan has said there is something fishy about the deaths of three Maoists deep inside forests near Mele Manjakatti in Palakkad.

Three Maosists were allegedly killed on Monday morning in an encounter with Thunderbolt commandos. Sreekandan said that he doubted whether the shootout was a drama scripted and played by the government to cover-up Walayar incident.

“The police themselves have said that for some time now there has been no presence of Maoists in Attapady.. The story of Thunderbolt going into the forest and killing Maoists when the locals had no clue about the incident gives room for suspicion,” he said.

According to the police, the attack against Maoists was held by Thunderbolt team led by Asst Commandant Soloman. It was provoked by firing from the side of Maoists.

Among the dead Maoists, there were men and women.
