On hearing the sound of the coupling, the drivers applied sudden brake. The compartments went a little further and stopped near the old railway gate in Pettah. The engine was stopped near the All Saint’s College. The passengers inside the train came to know about the detached engine after the lights and fans went off with the train stopping abruptly. CRPF and railway employees from the Thiruvananthapuram Central reached the spot after the engine drivers and guard notified them. Thirty minutes later, after correcting the issues, the train was moved to Kochuveli Railway Station. The journey can be restarted only after a detailed assessment.

Many, including the locals, reached here. Recently Kochuveli-Bikaner Express and Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Superfast trains also ran into similar issues. The railway authority said the incident is serious and a probe will be done.
