maoist-killing

PALAKKAD: The SP has rejected the allegation that the Maoists who were killed in encounters in Attapady over the past two days were not the ones who had gone there to surrender.

“Maoists attacked the police using A K 47 but the police had gone there for patrolling and not for attacking them. You can check with the witnesses to find out whether it was fake encounters or not.

Among the items seized from the Maoists, there were one AK 47 rifle, six locally made rifles including those branded with the symbol of hammer and sickle, knives, radio, laptop, tablet, torches, pen-drives and Maoist flag," the SP said.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the slain Maoists refused to accept the bodies, citing that the police had failed to follow normal procedures under such circumstances. It was the relatives of Karthik and Manivasakam, who came out to protest, pointing this out.

The relatives urged the police to follow right procedures. Karthik’s mother and sister later gave a petition to the district collector, seeking re-postmortem of bodies.
