PALAKKAD: The report of the sessions’ court judge mentioned that bail was granted to the accused in Walayar case following lapses on the side of the prosecution. The report was submitted in the Kerala High Court. The high court had sought an explanation after bail was granted to the main accused Madhu and Pradeep Kumar.

The high court had harshly criticised the sessions’ court for granting bail to the accused. The court said the sessions’ court did not consider the seriousness of the case. The report of the sessions’ court said the prosecution did not appear when the bail plea was considered. Bail was granted as the prosecution did not oppose it. The high court said that it was not an appropriate action granting bail only because the prosecution did not object.

Bail was granted to Madhu and Pradeep Kumar in 2017. The court granted them bail on the next day the bail plea was filed. The plea filed by the police alleged irregularity in granting bail. Following that, the high court sought an explanation.
