THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The parents of Walayar sisters who were sexually abused and hanged have said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had responded to them positively when they made a request for the CBI inquiry into their children’s case.
They were speaking to media after meeting the chief minister. “We requested the chief minister to engage the CBI to probe the case and chief minister assured us that he would do all necessary arrangements for that.
We have strong belief in his words we are fully satisfied with our meeting with him,” they said. “This thing should not happen again to any other children. No mother or father should have to wait for such a long time for justice. Our children should get justice. Action should be taken against officers who made flaws in the investigation. These were the requests we had made to the chief minister,” the parents said.
KPMD general secretary Punnala Sreekumar had accompanied the parents who went to meet the chief minister. Sreekumar added that the chief minister had given assurance that if the parents approached the court seeking a CBI inquiry, the government would not oppose it.
