KOCHI: The Kerala High Court Friday said they cannot consider now the demand for a CBI probe on the death of the two sisters under mysterious circumstances in Walayar. There is presently a situation to move the court against the verdict. The court said the case can be taken over only after cancelling the verdict of the POCSO court. The plea will be considered again later today.
There has been a verdict of the POCSO court in Palakkad in the case. A re-investigation is possible only if this verdict is cancelled and so it cannot be considered now, CBI lawyer informed the court.
If the government wants they can file a plea, the court said and there is a legal provision for it. The government informed the court that they will file an appeal and the procedures for it have already been started.
Malayala Vedi president George Vattukkulam filed a plea in the high court seeking a CBI probe in the case. The high court asked the petitioners the circumstances for such a plea and asked whether it was based on the news carried in the dailies. The court asked the petitioner where he was during the time of the trial.
