KILIMANOOR: Discontent is brewing within the DYFI after a leader, who was served a notice by CPM inquiry commission in a case, was reportedly retained in the important post he was holding.
The case relates to the felling of rose wood trees on the premises of Buds School in Chempakassery ward of Pazhakunnumel Grama panchayat and smuggling the wood out of the school compound.
The police had filed a case against the Gramapanchayat member in connection with the incident. The party had sent notice to the member, seeking his explanation.
CPM Kilimanoor area Committee had appointed a three-member commission for probing the incident as it turned out that not only the panchayat member but a few others were also involved in it.
After a month’s inquiry, the report was submitted in the area committee. In the report, there were witness accounts that said that the local DYFI leader had role in smuggling the rosewood. Following the report, the issue was discussed in several local committees but no action was taken against the culprit.
Though he was served a notice, seeking his explanation, in a recent DYFI area conference, his important post was reportedly retained.
