KOZHIKODE: CPM politburo member MA Baby on Saturday lashed out against the police for arresting two party activists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in Kozhikode. While adding that the UAPA is a black law, he said that police should reinvestigate the issue.

'UAPA is a black law. Neither the government nor CPM has any doubt in it. However, the police don't think so. People of Kerala know that the government would take an appropriate stand regarding the issue,' he stated in a Facebook post. The two CPM activists, Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Faisal, were arrested in Kozhikode for allegedly distributing pro-Maoists pamphlets.

The two have been remanded for 15 days. The court will consider their bail plea on Monday. Earlier, both Alan and Thaha had said that they have been falsely booked by the police.
