KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s security has been beefed up after threat from Maoists. The secret investigation department has informed that there are threat to the chief minister and five police stations of the district. The threat was soon after the Maoists were killed in Attappady. There is a threat to Kodencherri, Thamarasseri, Koorachundu, Peruvannamoovi and Thottilppalam stations of the district.
Following the threat, his security has been strengthened for all his programmes today. Meantime, the DGP has directed all police stations of Wayanad to be vigilant. Thunderbolts team has reached the areas. Inspection will be tightened at night.
The report of the secret investigation stated that the threat to the chief minister is amid protests against the government after UAPA was charged against the two youths at Pantheerankavu in Kozhikode. The CPI (M) also came down heavily against the police action in which the youths were arrested. A resolution was passed against the police by CPM Kozhikode south area committee.
