THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the case related to the suicide of a 16-year-old girl in Kilimanoor a year ago by consuming poison, the crime branch, on Monday, arrested her lover, ‘who had sexually abused her’.

The arrested person is Kilimanoor Mulakkalathu Kavu native Sangeeth (21). He was taken to the crime scene by a team led by DySP Anil Kumar and the evidence was collected. The man had allegedly lured girl, posing as her lover, and sexually abused her.

The girl, who was mentally devastated due the incident, committed suicide later. After it turned out in the post-mortem that the girl had been sexually abused, the police handed over the case to the Crime branch team that probes POCSO cases.

In the investigation conducted subsequently, the police booked Sangeeth. On Monday, he was arrested, produced in the court and remanded to judicial custody.
