PALAKKAD: A special force team of the Tamil Nadu police on Saturday caught a Maoist who escaped after the encounter with Kerala police’s Thunderbolt team at Manjakkandi in Attappadi. Special Task Force (STF) of Tamil Nadu police caught Deepak alias Chandru, a native of Chhattisgarh. He is an expert in handling weapons like AK 47 and is a key member of Bhavani Dalam.
Deepak leg was injured and was entered into Coimbatore govt hospital on Saturday evening. He raised Maoist slogans when taken out of the ambulance. The Tamil Nadu STF caught Deepak from the Anakkatty area. Two other Maoists were with Deepak, but as per indications, they left him as he was injured. No further details about the other Maoists are released by the police. There were reports that a woman was with Deepak, though the STF hasn’t confirmed it.
Meanwhile, a woman Maoist with a baby was seen near Attappadi as per Adivasis.
