Kaaliyan, starring Prithviraj and based on a story taken out from the annals of Venad history, is a big-budget new film that will soon go on floors.

It tells the story of Iravikutti Pillai, a hero of Venad kingdom, and his close friend Kaaliyan.

Prithviraj will don the role of Iravikutti Pillai. He had also released the first-look video of Kaaliyan, in which he says, “ I had shared a dream with audience and it is going to become a reality now...”

Prithviraj’s dialogue in the first-look poster that “Your Majesty, it is Iravi who had taught me the fighting techniques” was also well-received by the people. Having said that, not many people know Kaaliyan’s director S Mahesh, who has helped Prithvi realise his dream.

Mahesh, who hails from Nemom in Thiruvananthapuram, is a master of Kalaripayattu, as well. He runs a Kalari school next to his house, where there are students from different walks of life.

But, Mahesh is passionate about films as much as he is about Kalari. When such a martial art expert comes to direct a film like Kaaliyan, which gives equal importance to action and history, one could easily guess the magnitude of the thrilling action-packed scenes the film would be having.
