kummanam-rajashekaran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state BJP leadership postponed the meeting of the office bearers and core committee to be held tomorrow. The meet was called by all India general secretary B L Santhosh. The RSS leadership asserted that they are not keen in holding discussions with Santhosh. The meet was called to choose the state chief. However, the meet was postponed due to differences of opinion. The RSS has expressed dissatisfaction in exempting BJP leader Kummanam Rajashekaran.

The post of BJP state chief is lying vacant after P S Sreedharan Pillai was made Mizoram Governor. Kummanam was first hinted as the BJP candidate in Vattiyoorkavu but later was denied seat and this had stoked a controversy. Kummanam got more than 50,000 votes in Vattiyoorkavu Lok Sabha polls but in the bypolls, the party got only 27,000 votes. This irked the party and soon after that the state chief was removed.

V K Prashanth of the CPM got a thumping win in Vattiyoorkavu. The RSS wanted Kummanam to contest polls. But in the last minute, his name was excluded. Instead advocate S Suresh was fielded.
