COIMBATORE: In a tragic accident, four engineering students were killed after being hit by a speeding train in Coimbatore on Wednesday.

The dead were identified as Siddique Raja, Rajasekhar, Gowtham and Karuppusamy. Vignesh, a friend of theirs, suffered serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

According to the police, the students were apparently sitting on the railway tracks and consuming liquor before the train hit them. The incident took place on a rail overbridge near Sulur in Coimbatore.
