IDUKKI: The money spent by organising committee to bring Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to Idukki to inaugurate All India Cooperative anniversary was Rs 4 lakh, according sources.

He reached Kattappana from Thiruvananthapuram by helicopter. The charge for this was Rs 4 lakh.

The helicopter had to be hired as the chief minister’s office had informed the organisers several days ago that on November 14, the chief minister would have to return to the capital city by 12 pm to attend another programme . On November 13, it self, air-charge of Rs 4 lakh was paid in advance.

A 300-member security team under district police chief T Narayanan was also deployed at Kattapana for the security of the chief minister at the inaugural function.

In the light of Intelligence report on Maoist threat, there was a special commando team also with the chief minister. Some days ago, special teams of Intelligence and police had started monitoring the venue of the event.
