NEW DELHI: Justice Rohinton Nariman has responded to the Sabarimala verdict again. The order of the five-member bench on women entry should be executed and our judgements are not to be played with, Nariman told solicitor general Tushar Mehta while considering another case.
Justice Nariman directed Mehta to read their order on Sabarimala when the bench led by him was hearing an appeal filed by the Enforcement Directorate challenging the Delhi High Court verdict granting bail to Karnataka Congress leader D K Shivakumar in a money laundering case.
The Sabarimala case is not related to the case of the Enforcement Directorate, but Nariman directed Tushar Mehta to deal with the Sabarimala case. Legal experts say it was an unusual action from the side of Justice Nariman.
“Please tell your government to read the dissent judgment delivered in the Sabarimala case yesterday, which is extremely important... Inform your authority and the government to read it,” he told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.
Mehta who was present in the court was not ready to react on the issue. Even after the case and outside the court, he did not react.
Nariman had yesterday demanded stern action against the efforts to stop Sabarimala verdict.
