THRISSUR: A woman, named Alice(58), was recently found murdered in her home at East Combara in Irinjalakkuda. Police suspect that the murder was committed by a group of burglars as Alice was found lying dead in a pool of blood without any of her ornaments. According to the officials, the burglars might have fled the scene with all her jewelry. It is learnt that the investigation is directed at various local thieves and migrant labourers.
According to sources, there was a deep injury on Alice's neck. Earlier today, Thrissur central zone DIG S Surendran had visited the crime scene. The inquest procedures were led by Irinjalakkuda DySP. The post mortem was conducted by afternoon.
Alice, who was living alone since her husband's death, was found dead in her home by yesterday evening. Her daughters, all of them married, are living in various parts of the state. Her son is living in the UK. According to reports, a neighbouring lady used to give her company at night. According to the neighbour, it was her daughter who found Alice lying dead as she went to look for her after around 6.30 in the evening. She also told that while the front door was locked from outside, the back door appeared to be locked from inside. Alice's phone was found near the back door.
