THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a recent development, Kerala University Chancellor has demanded Crime Branch investigation regarding the mark moderation controversy in the University. As per the latest reports, the Chancellor has handed over a request to the state police chief. Earlier, the Higher Education department had ordered strict action against the culprits.
Meanwhile, 4 university officials, who were involved in the scam, have been transferred. The transferred officials are identified as deputy registrar S Susheela, ESAV section officer V Vinod, section officers Balaji and Swagath. Earlier, the deputy registrar of the Exam department AR Renuka was suspended in relation to the case. According to reports, more officials are said to be involved in the case.
Though the University had initially planned to file a police case after a preliminary investigation headed by Pro-Chancellor, the government demanded a strict action following the emergence of various evidence regarding the scam. The investigating committee headed by the Pro-Chancellor is expected to submit its report to the syndicate on November 22.
It was found out that an additional moderation of up to 132 marks was given to students correcting the original marks they had scored in 16 examinations.
