PALAKKAD: Minister A K Balan said the report on the lapses noticed in the probe in the case related to the mysterious deaths of the two siblings in Walayar, has been obtained. There has been a serious lapse on the part of the prosecution and no prosecution should conduct a case in this manner, he said.
The government will take strong measures to prevent such lapses and those actions can be seen in the coming days, he said. The police who investigated the Walayar case were criticised for their lapses. A K Balan's response was in this situation.
The POCSO Court had on October 25 acquitted V Madhu, Shibu and M Madhu arraigned in the case. Although the girls were found sexually abused, the prosecution was not able to prove that they were the accused. Offences like sexual abuse, abetment to suicide, child abuse and insult of womanhood were charged on them. There were five accused in the case including a minor. The court had earlier acquitted the third accused Pradeep Kumar for lack of evidence. V S Achuthanandan, the MLA of the place and chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission, had alleged that the probe in the case was sabotaged from the beginning.
Meantime, there is a practicable stay in the new verdict related to women entry in Sabarimala, he said.
