PAMPA: Reports suggest that Sabarimala has witnessed a tremendous increase in its revenue on the first day of the new pilgrimage season. According to reports, the revenue on the first day is Rs 3.32 crores which shows an increase of Rs 1.28 crores from that of the last year.
It is learnt that the Sabarimala region has been witnessing a huge crowd of pilgrims in the first two days of the season. Police are finding it difficult to control the huge crowd.
It must be noted that the pilgrimage centre had witnessed a decrease in the number of pilgrims last year due to the tensions caused by the Supreme court verdict which allowed entry of women to the temple. According to Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran, there was a decrease of around Rs 100 crore in the Devaswom board's revenue.
Meanwhile, the Devaswom board expressed hope to witness a larger crowd turnout this year. It is believed that the huge turnout will the board to gain a better revenue this year.
