THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A SIT of the Crime Branch has initiated a probe on the mark moderation fraud in Kerala University. The case will be registered after completing the primary investigation.

The SIT recorded the statements of the registrar, assistant registrar and the exam controller on Tuesday. The team will check the controversial mark moderation from 2016 in the software and has demanded a backup of the details. The SIT said the primary investigation will be completed within a week.

The officers, in their statement, has said that there were critical errors in the software. There were instances where four B.Tech students who passed the exam was shown as failed. Same happened with a LLB student.

Irregularities were found in the marks of students in graduate exams from 2016 to 2019. Details of all students who had a difference in marks will be checked separately.
