WAYANAD: Father of Shahla Sherin, the fifth standard student of Govt. school in Sulthan Bathery who died of snakebite, said that there was a mark of snakebite in the girl’s leg along with a bluish colour. “The incident was around 3 pm and the school called at 3:36 pm. They didn’t say that was a snakebite but instead said her leg got trapped in a hole. They disagreed to give anti-venom from the taluk hospital. I never told them to wait for me. Nobody should go through such a situation”, he told the media.
In the meanwhile, the health department has started probing the lapse of Bathery taluk hospital in giving immediate treatment to Shahla. Anti-venom wasn’t given in all four hospitals the patient was taken to. Her health deteriorated on the way to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
