WAYANAD: Disaster Management expert Muralee Thummarukudy had come out with his take on Thursday’s tragic incident in which fifth standard girl student Shehla Sherin died after she was bitten by a snake in her classroom at Sarvajana HSS in Sulthan Bathery.
Expressing his wrath over the incident on his Facebook page, he says every year many children are dying in schools. “The child who goes to school, smiling doesn’t come back. In vehicle accident, by falling into some pit on school yard, in accident during sports festival and now in classroom due to snakebite, the schoolkids get killed,” he writes.
“Every year, our children’s blood is dropping on the school yard. Also parents’ tears. Whenever an accident happen, there is big noise, police case and suspension of one or two teachers. With that ends everything,” says Thummarakudy, adding that he had given a blue print to the government regarding children’s safety six years ago but nobody was reading it.
