NEW DELHI: The national commission for protection of child rights is intervening on the incident over the death of a fifth class student following a snake bite. Shehala Sherin, a student of Govt Sarvajana Higher Secondary School, died after bitten by a snake on Wednesday at 3.15 pm. The commission is intervening following the talks held on Thursday.

The commission has decided to send a notice to district collector and police chief seeking a report on the issue. Commission member Yashwant Jain informed that strict action will be taken against those who committed the lapses.

If required, the commission will visit the school and collect evidence and the incident is taken seriously. A notice will be sent seeking a report on the incident, the commission said.
