KALPETTA: Students organisations came forward protesting the death of Shehala Sherin, a fifth class student of Bathery Govt Sarvajana Vocational Higher Secondary School, who died after being bitten by a snake. SFI, KSU, MSF, ABVP and AISF reached Wayanad collectorate protesting on the issue. A clash broke out in the marches staged by the SFI and KSU. A tussle broke out between the activists and the police.

SFI activists including girls came first protesting on the issue. They entered the collectorate through the second gate. There was not enough police to stop them. The police ousted the activists who came near the office of district education deputy director. SFI leadership informed ending the strike after an assurance was obtained from DDE on SFI’s demand to dismiss the PTA. Following SFI protest, KSU activists also joined the protest. KSU activists who entered the collectorate protested in front of the DDE Office. Shehala died on Wednesday evening at 3.15 pm after bitten by a snake in the classroom. She died due to the delay in treatment. Her death is sparking a wave of outrage and protests all over the state.
