KOZHIKODE: A one-month-old baby sick of a rare disease is being transported from Kozhikode to Kochi for urgent surgery. The ambulance with the baby has started its journey from Kozhikode Medical College to Kochi Amritha Hospital. With the intervention of the health minister, the ambulance will be having special security of the police.

The authorities and police have requested the public to make way for the ambulance in routes which it passes through. The route is through Thondayad, Ramanattukara, Edappal, Thrissur, Chalakkudy and Angamali.

The baby is having a serious medical situation of chylothorax-rare condition in which lymphatic fluid leaks into the space between the lung and chest wall. Swanoop, a Palakkad native is the baby’s father.
