BATHERY: In the wake of the recent development involving the death of a student due to snakebite, the General Education Director has put forward stringent instructions to avoid such unfortunate events.
In a circular issued, all schools are asked to summon a PTA meeting before November 30 to take precautions to avoid such incidents. If there are gaps or holes on walls or floors of schools, it should be closed before the 5th of next month. The circular also asks to clear school compounds of unnecessary plants, creepers and not to ban students from using footwear inside classrooms.
The circular directs the authorities to provide ample light inside toilets, remove waste from school premises and give immediate medical treatment to students even if there is mild discomfort. The progress should be reported to the General Education Director before December 10.
