KOCHI: It seems that Rehana Fathima had enjoyed very much the media attention she got last time when she tried to climb up the hillock to Sabarimala temple. Though she was blocked in the midway and sent back, she could cash in on the media publicity she got last time.
Now, this time, despite ministers warning against any attempt for show-offs by activists in Sabarimala, Rehana has come out, feigning bhakti and facing media camera boldly with seemingly well-rehearsed answers.
On Saturday evening, Rehana was cornered by a few TV reporters, who were in search for some byte.
When grilled by media, she started saying: “I have given application to the IG, seeking police protection to go to Sabarimala. They have accepted it and gave me the receipt. They said they would get back to me later after consulting their superiors. After knowing their response, I shall decide on the date of my visit. I have decided to wear the ‘beaded chain’ on November 26, being my birthday.
I shall be going with my family this time. I shall be going, abiding the law. I have the right for that. I am not afraid of going to Sabarimala. Last time, some misunderstanding was created among the people and this time I want to prove that I had gone to Sabarimala through the right path …”
