ALAPPUZHA: The tragic death of the twelve-year-old boy identified as Navneeth has upset the entire place. Navneeth of Vinod Bhavan at Charummoodu died on Friday after accidentally hit by a makeshift cricket bat that slipped from the hands of a student. The flying wooden makeshift bat hit the sixth standard student Navneeth on the back of his head while he was going to wash his hands after lunch.

The classmates of Navneeth has not been able to come out of it. Navneeth was a student of Choonakkara Govt UP School. As soon as the bat hit him, he walked saying never mind to his friends who came to him. Nobody thought he was moving towards death.

The most affected was the one who batted. He has not uttered a word after the incident and though it was unintentional, he has not been able to come out of it. R Rajesh MLA and the police have directed to subject him for a counselling at the earliest.

His body was kept in the school to pay homage and by 2 pm it was brought home. His body was cremated at 3 pm in the backyard of his house. His younger brother Naveen lit the funeral pyre. Navneeth used to send his brother to school with a smile daily. He knew about it only yesterday. Everyone told him that Navneeth was in the hospital after he incurred injuries in a fall. It was also hard to console his parents.
