thrissur-snakebite

THRISSUR: The cold response of the teachers and authorities of Bathery Sarvajana school when student Shahala Sherin said that snake had bitten her was one of the reasons that led to her death.

Had she been taken to hospital in time, she would have been alive today. Such teachers should make the teachers of Thrissur Kuttikattoor Govt higher secondary schools their role model.

The other day Hrithik, a fifth standard student of the school, was bitten by a snake. In the morning, on his way to school, the child received a sting from something. His friend who was with him informed teacher Gopakumar soon after they reached the school. He immediately took the student to the head mistress, V A Asha.

In the examination, she found an wound on the child’s leg and in the very next second asked Gopakumar and Senior assistant Rajeev to rush the child to hospital.

Without waiting for Hrithik’s parent’s arrival, they took him to a private hospital. Doctor, who suspected it to be a case of snakebite, referred him to the medical college.

In the examination conducted at Mother and Child treatment wing at the hospital, doctors came to the conclusion that it was a case of snakebite. However immediate administration of anti-venom injection helped the child come out of danger. He was later discharged from hospital.

Hrithik’s life could be saved only because of the timely intervention of the teachers and headmistress.
