THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The devotees will find their way if the government does not keep its word on Sabarimala, BJP leader Kummanam Rajashekharan said reacting on Trupti Desai’s visit to Kerala for Ayyappa darshan. The devaswom board and the government should take strong steps to protect the interests of the devotees. If the government is not ready for it, then the devotees will find their own way, he said.

According to the devotees, it is their need to maintain beliefs and practices. Temples can exist only if there is faith. The existence of the temples will only continue only if the rituals are performed. The board and the government should take strong steps to protect the interests of the devotees and for a peaceful pilgrimage.

Last year the government and the police stood with those who violated customs. That time devotees had to take direct steps to protect the rituals. The government has made its stance clear this time. Board says customs will be conserved. A heavy rush is witnessed in Sabarimala now. This is the result of the government's assurance to devotees. But if the government does not comply, the government will be responsible for whatever happens. The devotees will find a way. For them, ritual is like a pupil of the eye, said Kummanam.

Bhumata Brigade leader Trupti Desai and team reached Kochi early this morning. Bindu Ammini, who visited Sabarimala last time, too accompanied them. On knowing the arrival of the women, a team led by BJP leader C G Rajagopal staged protests in front of the commissioner’s office. One of the protestors sprayed chilli powder on her face.
