THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A native of Thiruvananthapuram identified as Nimisha and her family are among the Islamic State fighters (ISIS) who surrendered before the Afghan security forces in Afghanistan. Nimisha is the daughter of Bindu, a native of Attukal in the capital city. Bindu told a channel that she got information that her daughter is among those surrendered in Afghanistan.

They were identified by a picture circulated by foreign news channels. Nimisha was reported missing in July 2016. She was among the team from Kasargod who went to Afghanistan to join ISIS. Nimisha surrendered along with her husband Esa and daughter Ummakulsu aged three, said Bindu.

“My daughter is among those surrendered. I got some pictures. I was not able to identify my daughter among the masked women. However, I was able to identify my son-in-law and grandchild. Representatives of the Australian news channel approached me three days back. They showed me some pictures handed over by some news agencies. I identified my son-in-law and granddaughter from it. They last contacted me in November 2018. They gave some pictures of my granddaughter,” said Bindu.

Nimisha, a last year BDS student of Century Dental College at Poinachi in Kasargod fell in love and married Bekson Vincent, a Christian and a native of Palakkad. Both embraced Islam after marriage. The team including the two left for Afghanistan via Sri Lanka. The information obtained earlier was that they were in Nangarhar. Bindu expect they will be sent back to the state.
