KOCHI: The court awarded 14 years jail term and a fine to Manseed Muhmood, native of Kozhikode and the first accused in the case of holding a secret meet at Kanakamala in Kannur related to an international terrorist organisation. A 10 year jail term was awarded to the second accused T Swalih of Chelakkara and seven year jail term to the third accused Rashid.

The quantum of sentence was pronounced by special court judge P Krishna Kumar of NIA. The court had found six guilty in the case. Other accused--Ramshad Nangeel of Kuttiyady gets three year jail term, eight-year jail term for Safwan of Thirur and three-year jail term for P K Moinood of Kanhangad. A fine has also been imposed on them. The accused can undergo the jail terms together.

N K Jazim, the sixth accused and a native of Kuttiyady has been acquitted in the case. The court lauded the investigating team for producing accurate evidences. The case was that the accused had allegedly declared allegiance to the terror outfit ISIS and hammered out plans to launch terror strikes across Kerala and neighbouring States.
