KOLLAM: A 54-year-old man has been taken into custody for sexually abusing a third class student who came to buy sweets at Chadayamangalam in Kollam. The Chadayamangalam police arrested Saleem, a native of Ittiva, for sexually abusing the minor. A case was registered against him based on the complaint of the childline authorities.

The incident happened on November 21. The minor girl while returning after Madrass went to his shop to buy sweets. He gave her sweets, then took her inside the shop and abused her sexually.

On reaching school, she narrated the incident to the teacher. She later complained of pain on her private parts. She was later subjected for a medical examination. The teacher informed the incident to the childline. The accused was produced in the court and remanded.
