KANHANGAD: The 60th state school Kalolsavam got off to a colourful start with Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan lighting the lamp. Public Education Director K Jeevan Babu hoisted the flag. Ministers E Chandrasekharan, C Raveendranath and Kadannapally Raveendran, Rajmohan Unnithan MP and film artiste Jayasurya were at the main venue named after the great poet K Kunhiraman Nair.

230 events will be held in 28 venues. Nearly 10,000 participants are partaking in the events. The state will witness performance of teenagers on all four days. Popular items will held on the first day. Mohiniyattom, Kuchippudi, Duffmuttu, Chavittunatakam, Poorakkali etc will be held.

Participants from many districts have reached to show their talents. Oottuppura led by a 60-member team of Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboodiri has been arranged. Food for 25,000 people will be made daily and at a time 3,000 people can have.
