KILIMANOOR: Two years after winning the state Christmas bumper lottery of Rs six crore, the ‘goddess of fortune’ has once again blessed Ratnakaran Pillai. He got a pot of ancient copper coins from his recently bought plot of 20 cents. The pot contained 2600 ancient coins and it was obtained while digging the plot. He bought this land for farming purposes.

The coins were found in a pot covered at Padinjattinkara near Keezhperoor under Kilimanoor police station limits.

The pot was completely damaged by the shovel of the labourers working in the plot. On being informed, the Kilimanoor police reached the spot and they informed the archaeology department. The coins were handed over to them and they said a small share of it will be given to Pillai after calculating the value of it.

Pillai is very active in social activities. He had won twice in the congress seat form Keezhperoor ward in Nagarur grama panchayat. He did not contest last time as it was women’s ward. In between this, he won the Christmas bumper prize of Rs six crore in 2018. He did not deposit the amount in the bank and instead gave a share of it to the landless by means of property and house. Pillai bought this land one and a half years back. The locals said the plot was owned by a traditional medical practitioner of erstwhile Travancore kingdom. The plot is four kilometres away from the Kilimanoor Palace. Pillai is running a timber mill for the past 23 years.

Baby is Pillai’s wife and Shibu, Rajesh, Rajeev, Reji and Rajeesh are his children.
