ALAPPUZHA: Sudheesh, the convict who murdered a couple in front of their six-year-old son in Mavelikkara, has been sentenced to death. It was the Alappuzha Principal Sessions Court judge A Badaruddin who pronounced the verdict. Apart from the death sentence, the court has also ordered the convict to pay a total penalty of Rs 2,50,000 for various offences.
Earlier, the prosecution had cited that the case was the rarest of the rare cases. The incident happened in 2018 when Sudheesh murdered Biju and his wife Sasikala in front of their son Appu. According to sources, Sudheesh committed the murders after Biju confronted him regarding his misbehaviour towards Sasikala. It is learnt that Sudeesh had misbehaved with Sasikala on several occasions.
It must be noted that the statements of the child and the neighbours have been crucial in the case.
