THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More evidences emerged on Higher Education Minister K T Jaleel interfering in the autonomy of the M G University. Evidences obtained assert that the minister unlawfully interfered in university adalats. An order was passed that pending files should be handed over to the minister and to inform the details and decisions of the adalat on that day itself. The directive is to subvert the autonomy of universities.
The order issued on February 4 regarding the conduct of adalat by various universities emerged now. This is a directive by the Higher Education Council to file adalat at six universities in Kerala. A clear indication of the minister's involvement is seen in this.
The action was that of the department of higher education in violation of the university regulations. Vice chancellors also concealed information related to the order. Mystery rises on the intervention of the minister in files related to students. Governor Arif Mohammed Khan decided to convene a meet of VCs related to the mark donation scam in technical university. The governor's decision is to summon the university's VC, the complainant and the student and collect evidence.
Meantime, a final decision has not been taken to summon the minister who directed for revaluation. However, the report of governor’s secretary that minister’s intervention was violation of law was revealed yesterday.
