OCHIRA: A set of criminals abducted and assaulted a youth who attempted to stop them from attacking a man in Ochira. The youth named Sreekumar was later abandoned by the gang near a petrol pump in Ochira. Sreekumar is currently undergoing treatment at the Karunnagappally Govt Hospital.

Police have registered a case against the criminals who have been identified as Kukku, Ijaz, Jithinraj, Vaishak, Robo, Tharun and Gautham. It is learnt that these culprits were recently released on bail for stabbing a 17-year-old boy in front of his mother. According to the police, the incident occurred near Kondaat junction in Ochira around 11.20 pm on Tuesday. While Sreekumar was having food at a fast food center nearby, the gang members reached the area and attacked a person. Upon seeing this, Sreekumar tried to intervene and this provoked the gang members who immediately turned towards Sreekumar.

Sreekumar, who got injured in the attack, immediately took treatment from a nearby hospital. While returning from the hospital, the gang members again approached Sreekumar and abducted him. After assaulting him further, the gang abandoned near the petrol pump. It is learnt that the criminals were traveling in a car that had the picture of Dawood Ibrahim on it. Police have intensified the search for the gang members.
